Mad Max Klinger by Andrew Thomas Thrash

One of my favorite works of art is a cycle of drawings/etchings by Symbolist Max Klinger (German, 1857-1920).

Paraphrase on the Finding of a Glove; or, A Glove (Ein Handschuh), consists of ten etchings that together form a narrative sequence: “Ort (Place)”; “Handlung (Action)”; “Wünsche (Yearnings)”; “Rettung (Rescue)”; “Triumph”; “Huldigung (Homage)”; “Ängste (Anxieties)”; “Ruhe (Repose)”; “Entführung (Abduction)”; “Amor (Cupid)”; (as well as a portfolio cover):

Here's another remarkable piece by Klinger, this one from a series completed in 1884 called A Life. Titled “Dreams,” it's plate three in the series of fifteen etchings:

Strange Phenomena by Andrew Thomas Thrash
